VALENTINO TESI SOMMELIER

It was a glass of red, it was a bolt from the blue

Born and raised in Pistoia, I graduated in Economics and Business from the University of Florence, I’m a Financial Advisor for Banca Alta Toscana, father of Vittorio and Maria Sole, and Giulia’s lifelong partner. I live in the Tuscan Montalbano area, surrounded by woods and olive groves.
I first discovered wine at the age of 19, discovering it during a dinner at a renowned restaurant. It was a glass of a great red, and it was a bolt from the blue. I fell in love, wanted to know more, and discovered a whole new world.

It wasn’t the web era yet, so I started collecting magazines and books. Then I took a mini course on wine, and then the AIS (Italian Sommelier Association) Sommelier course, which I completed in January 2013. Since then, my desire to learn and delve deeper hasn’t waned.
In 2014, I earned my Official Taster certificate, and in 2016, I qualified as a speaker for AIS professional sommelier courses. I also teach wine-related subjects for Hotel Management Institutes, Confcommercio, the ALMA International Cooking School, and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa.

I have participated in and hosted numerous tasting events, including those in English, as well as appearing on television programs dedicated to wine.

To improve my communication and preparation, I began to explore the world of competitions, and after my initial placements, I became the Best Sommelier of Vermentino in 2017. In 2019, I won the First Master of Chianti Classico, the Best Sommelier of Tuscany, and the prestigious national title of Best Sommelier of Italy, thanks to which I became an Ambassador of Trentodoc. In 2020, I was named Ambassador of Vernaccia di San Gimignano to the World. I also had the pleasure of collaborating with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Quebec. Recently, Cantine Dolianova ranked me among the top ten sommeliers in the world.
